POSITION TITLE: CUSTODIAN (Full-time, Part-time, Hourly, Substitute)
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 12 Months/8 hours per day
SUPERVISOR: Principal, Head Custodian or Designee
FSLA STATUS: Non-Exempt
TITLE: CUSTODIAN (Full-time, Part-time, Hourly, Substitute)
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Perform tasks to assist in maintaining a clean and safe learning environment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Hold a high school diploma or GED certificate.
- Ability to read basic operating instructions.
- Some custodial cleaning experience or the ability to be trained in these areas.
- Possess good moral character, must have good health and disqualifying physical or emotional disabilities which would impair effectiveness in the performance of the duties of this position.
PHYSICAL EFFORT/ACTIVITIES:
Job requires setting and working from extension ladders, moving furniture and furnishings, lifting/stacking supplies, lifting disposal containers (60-80 pounds)
REPORTS TO: PRINCIPAL, HEAD CUSTODIAN or Designee
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- To sweep, mop, wax, dust, vacuum, and other general cleaning tasks in assigned area.
- To use and maintain floor and carpet machines.
- To scrub and disinfect toilet doors daily and clean drinking fountains, urinals, toilet bowls, and other fixtures daily using materials that will keep them in a clean and sanitary condition.
- Wash all windows on both the inside and outside at least twice each year.
- To report immediately any damage to school property giving, whenever possible, the name of persons responsible.
- To be on duty in the building when events are scheduled outside of regular school hours, if such is requested by the Principal or designee.
- To remain on the premises during school hours. He/she shall be absent during school hours only for just and sufficient causes and only with permission of the head custodian or in accordance with a schedule of work hours.
- To maintain the lawn and grounds, as directed.
- To use universal precautions with the cleaning-up of body fluids.
- To perform other duties as assigned by the Principal, Head Custodian, or designee.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Twelve (12) month contract with compensation and benefits approved by school board policies and regulations.
EVALUATION:
Performance will be evaluated by the Principal, Head Custodian, or designee in accordance with school board policy and administrative regulations on evaluation of support personnel. |
