TITLE: LIBRARIAN
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
To conduct the media program in a manner that supports the instructional objectives of the individual school.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Hold a Collegiate Professional License with a specific endorsement in Library Media K-12.
- Broad knowledge and experience in teaching, media programs, management, and administration of library/media services.
REPORTS TO: PRINCIPAL
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- To select and acquire materials to reinforce the curriculum and meet the individual interest, ability and maturity levels of students through research, selections aids, reviews, recommendations, teacher requests, SOL’s, etc.
- To organize and distribute all media and audio-visual equipment for effective use.
- To participate in curriculum planning and program development and implementation to develop a close professional relationship among Teachers, Principals, and other Media Librarians.
- To create an attractive environment and atmosphere that encourages students and teachers to use the media center.
- To stimulate and guide students in all phases of their reading, viewing, and listening, so that they may effectively assimilate information.
- To provide instruction, in cooperation with the staff, in media and resource skills.
- To provide media center experiences to help students develop personal relationships, social attitudes, and vocational interests.
- To conduct with teachers and volunteer personnel (adult and student) in-service and other staff development activities in the use of multi-media equipment and materials.
- To acquaint the staff and students with the media collection and with new materials.
- To assist the Principal in ensuring that instructional materials and equipment are used to provide learning experiences compatible with the educational needs of students.
- To trouble-shoot technology and computer problems.
- To supervise Librarian Assistant.
- To perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or designee.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Two hundred (210) for Elementary, two hundred twenty (220) for Middle School and two hundred twenty (220) for High School contract with compensation and benefits approved by school board policies and regulations.
EVALUATION:
Performance will be evaluated by the Principal or designee in accordance with school board policy and administrative regulations on evaluation of support personnel. |
